Duhok, Kurdistan Region – Northlight Living is delighted to announce the official opening of Sarhaldan Park, a transformative urban development project in the heart of Duhok. The park was inaugurated on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in a grand ceremony led by Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

This project represents a major milestone in urban renewal, successfully converting a former industrial zone into a vibrant "green lung" for the city's residents.

From Industrial Zone to Urban Oasis

Located in the Baroshke neighborhood, the site was previously occupied by automotive workshops and industrial facilities. Northlight Living executed a complete environmental remediation and redevelopment plan, turning the 122,000-square-meter site into a modern recreational hub.

With a total investment exceeding 4 billion Iraqi Dinars, the project prioritizes environmental sustainability. 75% of the total area is dedicated to greenery, featuring thousands of newly planted trees, diverse flower gardens, and expansive lawns that will lower urban temperatures and improve air quality.

Key Features Delivered:

  • - Roman-Style Arena: A central amphitheater designed to host cultural events and community gatherings.

  • - Recreational Facilities: State-of-the-art sports areas, safe children’s playgrounds, and extensive walking/cycling paths.

  • - Water Features: elegantly designed fountains and water bodies that create a serene atmosphere.

  • - Public Amenities: Integrated restaurants, cafeterias, and ample parking spaces for visitors.

A Vision for a Greener Kurdistan

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani toured the facility and praised the transformation of the area. He highlighted the project as a fulfillment of the government's pledge to increase green spaces across the region.

"The area used to be an industrial site, but now it's a green park and open for the community," Prime Minister Barzani remarked during the event. He emphasized that protecting such environments is a collective duty, stating, "Our land is sacred and beautiful; I urge everyone to protect its environment."

Building for the Community

For Northlight Living, Sarhaldan Park is more than a construction contract; it is a commitment to social responsibility and urban well-being. By delivering this project on schedule and to international standards, we have helped provide the families of Duhok with a safe, clean, and beautiful space to connect with nature.

"We are proud to have partnered with the Duhok Governorate to bring this vision to life," said a project lead at Northlight Living. "Seeing families enjoy the fountains and playgrounds where there was once only concrete is the greatest reward for our engineering teams."
