Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Northlight Living is proud to announce the successful completion and official inauguration of the Haji Omeran Freeway, a vital infrastructure project connecting the Kurdistan Region to the international border. The strategic dual carriageway was officially opened on Monday, November 3, 2025, in a ceremony led by Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

A Critical Gateway Modernized
The newly constructed freeway replaces an aging 8-meter-wide single-lane road that previously struggled to handle the volume of commercial and tourist traffic. The new infrastructure features a modern 2.5-kilometer dual carriageway with a width of 25 meters, designed to international standards to ensure safety and efficiency.
Executed under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism with a budget of approximately 35.15 billion Iraqi Dinars, the project serves as a crucial economic artery, facilitating trade and tourism between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Official Inauguration
During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani commended the quality of the work and the importance of the project for the region's economic independence.
"This is an international road, and despite the rugged and remote nature of the area, we had to pay it special attention,"
Prime Minister Barzani stated during the event. He thanked the executing company for constructing the road
"in a very good way for the service of citizens," noting that the project will significantly boost trade with neighboring countries.
