Freeway Haji Omeran

The Haji Omeran Dual-Carriageway Freeway is a vital service infrastructure project, implemented by NorthLight Living to enhance mobility, safety, and economic connectivity.

Stretching over 2.5 kilometers with a width of 25 meters, the new freeway replaces the former Haji Omeran road, which was only 8 meters wide and caused significant traffic congestion and obstacles to commercial movement. The upgraded roadway is built to international standards, offering smoother traffic flow and improved access.

The project includes stormwater drainage systems, potable water networks, modern street lighting, service lines, parking areas, asphalt paving, and clear traffic signage, ensuring functionality, safety, and long-term durability.

Environmental and public comfort elements were carefully integrated, with over 1,000 trees planted along the sidewalks, along with 170 double-seat benches and 170 waste bins, transforming the roadway into a more welcoming and human-centered space.

To guarantee structural stability and safety, 200 retaining walls were constructed on the right side of the road to prevent landslides, while 190 retaining walls on the left side reinforce and protect the roadway.

Located at the Haji Omeran border gateway, the freeway serves as a primary entry point into the Kurdistan Region, facilitating tourism, trade, and daily transportation while enhancing the area’s overall visual identity.

Despite challenges related to complex terrain, harsh weather conditions, remoteness, and heavy traffic during construction, NorthLight Living successfully completed the project on schedule, delivering a roadway with a 50-year durability guarantee.
